In 2010 the Marlborough District Council implemented a large scale 140l bokashi system for processing of staff food waste as part of a wider recycling programme.

This has been a great success with food waste collected going from 2 litres per day in 2010 to a current 10-20 litres as staff become familiar with the recycling system.

A staff member has been taking the waste home to his garden on a regular basis  and he has informed me that his garden has benefited by the addition of around 1000 litres of food waste over the recent winter months.

This is an excellent example of how food waste collected from a business can be put to good use.
